Nursing Leadership

NCHCFA is committed to the professional growth of long term care nurses. We work collaboratively with nursing organizations and higher education to provide development and advancement opportunities. For example, NCHCFA partnered with the Continuing Education Department of the University of North Carolina School of Nursing to develop a Certificate in Executive Nursing Leadership in Long Term Care. This course is designed for nurses pursuing a career in nursing administration. For course information, please visit the UNC Continuing Education course site.

NCHCFA also supports the nursing certification offered by the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration/Long Term Care (NADONA). See NADONA information. These certifications complement each other rather than duplicate content.

All nurses working in skilled nursing facilities are encouraged to attain their certification in Gerontological Nursing from the American Nurse Credentialing Center. See ANCC course information.

Nurse leaders from NCHCFA also represent and support their colleagues on many internal and statewide committees and task forces as well as various advisory boards and boards of directors.
