We are fortunate to see the lighting industry offering many alternative solutions through the design of light fixtures and alternative lamping sources that are greatly improved over the old standbys of the incandescent lamp tubes. Not only do new light sources such as compact fluorescents, halogen lamps, and LED sources offer opportunities for creative solutions, but they are also coping with the concern of energy efficiency.
Yet in spite of the evolution in technology, effective solutions must still rely on sensitive and effective use of the components in order to solve the inherent problems.
Placement of the light sources, screening against glare, placement of task lighting where needed and logical placement of switching devices, including the use of 3-way switching for control at either end of a pathway, become the difference between a functional or problematic design.
