As part of a nationwide effort, NC NOVA aims to reduce high vacancy and turnover rates in direct care workers. One of 13 Better Jobs Better Care demonstration projects, NC NOVA was created under a $1.2 million grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and The Atlantic Philanthropies to the NC Foundation for Advanced Health Programs. The NC General Assembly adopted the program in July 2006.
The program recognizes long-term care providers who actively support and empower their direct care workforce in four areas:
NC NOVA has developed uniform guidelines which outline the criteria, evidence and outcomes in all long-term care settings in an effort to improve service in North Carolina.
