NCHCFA contributes to the continuing excellence of nursing home care in North Carolina through the Journey to National Best initiative. We also are working to validate professional standards through our Peer Review Meritorious Performer program as well as other facility and professional awards programs.
Our informative and timely seminars provide nursing home personnel with key opportunities for career growth and expanding skills in long-term care. NCHCFA offers more than 100 hours of continuing education annually throughout the state.
Through targeted research programs, NCHCFA collects, assembles and analyzes data to shape and impact the future of long-term care.
These two NCHCFA events held concurrently provide an opportunity for long-term care professionals to share best practices and learn state-of-the-art advances through professional seminars and networking. Our trade show has grown to be the largest and best organized in the nation. NCHCFA also conducts an annual midyear membership meeting.
With a focus on community education and participation, NCHCFA coordinates National Nursing Home Week. During this week of celebration, individual nursing homes distribute newsletters and volunteers spend many hours at local nursing homes.
NCHCFA provides its members with UPDATE, weekly publication featuring highlights of state and legislative policy, regulatory activity, promotion of various events of interest and education opportunities. We also distribute more in-depth publications such as regulatory bulletins, LTC Focus, and periodic issue papers.
The experience and expertise of NCHCFA staff furthers the cause of long-term health care at all levels of government. We closely monitor legislation at the North Carolina General Assembly and the U.S. Congress and maintain effective relationships with state and federal regulatory agencies. Many NCHCFA members and staff serve on boards, commissions and task forces focused on long-term care policy development.
